Geology is a vibrant field that integrates detailed field and laboratory work to deepen our understanding of earth processes.
Our program offers you a hands-on and practical experience in this essential and exciting field. Upon graduation students will be ready for entry-level employment in countless geological careers or well-equipped to continue their education at other institutions.
Marketable skills for this award include: analytical/quantitative skills, critical thinking, mathematics, meeting deadlines, problem solving and strong work ethic.

Major Courses must not duplicate courses taken to fulfill TJC Core Curriculum requirements. TJC Core Curriculum: 44 Credits
In addition to Major Courses, the student is required to take 44 credit hours from the TJC Core Curriculum . These courses must not duplicate courses taken to fulfill Major Courses requirements. Major Courses: 16 TJC Core Curriculum: 44 Recommended Course Sequence:

Note: - To receive this degree, students must earn a minimum grade of “C” in all required mathematics and science courses.

- **From the core choices, GEOL 1403 and GEOL 1404 are required for the Geology, AS Degree.
- ***Some transfer institutions prefer that geology majors take MATH 2413 - Calculus I . Students should consult with advisors at the transfer institution to determine which course is best suited for the university’s geology degree.
- Some courses are only offered during fall semester or spring semester, but not both. Please plan accordingly.
