Healthcare Administration, BAT

The Bachelor of Applied Technology degree in Healthcare Administration will prepare graduates for entry- to mid-level management positions in a healthcare or medical facility. This is a selective program. Applicants must apply, and be accepted, to the program before enrolling in courses beginning with the HTMS prefix.

The application review process begins in January of each year and continues until the first Friday in May, or until all seats are filled. You are encouraged to complete as many electives as possible, before applying to the program.

Note:

  1. Special admission rules apply.
  2. All required major courses for the Healthcare Administration, BAT program must be completed with a “C” or better.
  3. Healthcare Administration, BAT Program Admission Requirements:
    1. Associate degree in Healthcare Administration (AAS), Medical Office Management (AAS), Health Information Technology (AAS), Business Management (AAS), or other healthcare-related degree.
    2. Must have earned a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
    3. Associate degrees in an unrelated field may qualify based on transcript review and/or completing leveling coursework.
    4. For students meeting the above criteria, additional success factors may be considered.
      1. Student Success Criteria:
        1. Texas General Education Core complete: five points
        2. Current employment in healthcare industry for one year or more: two points
        3. Previous employment in healthcare industry (more than one year within last four years): one point
        4. Academic Excellence (three points for an “A,” two for a “B,” and one for a “C” in following courses):
          1. ENGL 1302, or equivalent component area option Core Curriculum course
          2. Business Mathematics, or equivalent mathematics Core Curriculum course
          3. Social and Behavioral Science Core Curriculum course
