An Occupational Skills Award (OSA) is the most basic sequence of courses that will prepare students for employment. Students are not able to declare an OSA as a major, or pursue one as an end goal. The Culinary Arts: Foodservice Fundamentals, OSA consists of courses shared in the first semester of the Culinary Arts Program, the Baking and Pastry Program, and the Hospitality and Restaurant Management Program. The OSA is a foundation for the three basic certificates, the three advanced certificates, and the three Associate of Applied Science degrees. The OSA will be automatically awarded to students as they complete coursework in those certificates and/or degrees.
Marketable skills for this award include: interpersonal skills and customer service.
