The Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Tyler Junior College is a novel co-enrollment agreement between Tyler Junior College and the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University. Tyler Junior College joined the Texas A&M Engineering Academies in fall of 2023, becoming the ninth community college in Texas to participate in this exciting program.
Unlike a traditional transfer agreement, the Engineering Academy offers the opportunity for students to begin their college journey simultaneously at Tyler Junior College and Texas A&M University as fully accepted students at both institutions. No additional transfer application is necessary. Students who are accepted to the Engineering Academy will take mathematics, science, and Core Curriculum coursework from Tyler Junior College and engineering coursework from Texas A&M University. The Texas A&M courses are taught by an A&M professor on the Tyler Junior College campus, and are the same courses that freshman and sophomore engineering students take from Texas A&M in College Station.
Students in the Engineering Academy are required to spend one academic year (fall and spring) at Tyler Junior College before transitioning to Texas A&M, but typically have the option of spending two years in Tyler before transitioning.
