The Health Information Fundamentals, Occupational Skills Award (OSA) provides students with foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary for entry-level positions in health information management. This award focuses on the principles of healthcare data management, medical terminology, Electronic Health Records (EHR), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance, and the legal and ethical aspects of health information.

Students will gain a strong understanding of the healthcare delivery system and the vital role of accurate and secure health information. The coursework is designed to prepare individuals for further study in health information technology, or to support immediate employment in administrative roles within hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, and other healthcare organizations.
