Students earning this Occupational Skills Award in Physical Therapist Assistant: Basic Patient Care Skills will be those who have completed PTHA 1225 - Communication in Health Care, PTHA 1301 - The Profession of Physical Therapy, and PTHA 1405 - Basic Patient Care Skills in the First Semester of the Physical Therapist Assistant, AAS Program. In these courses, emphasis will be placed on awareness of scope of practice, effective communication, and patient safety. Completion of the courses will give students a slight advantage in obtaining a Physical Therapist technician position.
